Pros

Because IBM gives you an opportunity to learn and grow.

How? You can apply to any project that suits your profile and experience. The projects are with different clients, which are real organizations like IBM. So, with the projects, you shall learn the cultures of two organizations at the same time.

The projects are about real problem-solving!

The client approaches IBM for a solution. You and the team are responsible for delivering it. During the process, you might need to learn new skills or boost up your communication skills to impress your client during a meeting.

You may get an opportunity to travel!

IBM clients may require you to work from their office permanently for the project or temporarily for some time. Depending on the project and scenario, your travel may be free!

Sharpen your knowledge!

IBM has so many resources for IBMers to update themselves about latest business news or case studies. If you want to learn about a technology or take a certification, IBM encourages you to do that!

Have a global perspective!

IBM is a huge multinational company, so no doubt it has employees and clients all over the world! Your teammates might be helping you from different countries, and you can learn about their cultures.

You shall have a coach with you!

IBM assigns a coach for you who shall take care of your overall progress. They suggest you to do courses to sharpen your skills, help you with managerial tasks, help you to find a right project for you, and give you advice on how to be effective at your project, etc.

And many more!

Cons

For every new project, you will have to interview.

I would not say it's a con, but it's a very stressful process. To get into an IBM project, you have to get interviewed with the project team, and like any real interview, you have a great chance of getting rejected.

IBM measures your performance on many different criteria.

Your coach and upper management evaluate you based on your learning hours. So, even if you did well on your project and have no learning hours, you may look bad!

Double administrative tasks!

Since you are working with a real client, they can have their own admin tasks for you to do. Also, IBM has its own tasks. So, be ready to juggle them together.

Working hours

Work hours are 8 hours per day. But sometimes, you may need to work late due to client demands and pressure. You may decide not to, but this is how corporate jobs work!

Advice to Management

Make some good rules on how to work with clients. Employees can find dealing with and impressing clients very stressful.
