IBM really cherishes diversity and creative thinking, which is really important to me.
Another thing is the company culture is not as toxic as others. Everyone is always willing to help instead of putting each other down or creating competition.
The work they provided was really challenging, but it's not a typical internship where you are given busy work.
They also paid for housing since I didn't live by the location. Compensation was equivalent or higher than most other SWE interns I talked to.
They did a great job, even though it was remote, and sent us lots of goodies and hosted lots of intern events (even though we were supposed to go to Disney World, which is sad! Maybe another time).
The interview process was definitely really challenging, which isn't a con. The job itself is (in my opinion) much easier than the interview process we had to go through. I'm just an intern, but another con I've heard is that it might be kind of challenging to continue to rise up in the company once you're at that level that you want to rise up. But for an internship, I really have no complaints.
Initially, I received a cognitive ability test (interactive games) and a HackerRank coding challenge. The challenge included: * Two problem-solving questions. * One question involved parsing data from a file and performing various operations on it.
A cognitive ability test, similar to an IQ test, was followed by a HackerRank assessment, all completed offline. This was then followed by a live interview, assuming satisfactory performance. The entire process spanned 3-4 weeks.
One technical round tested technical knowledge, one managerial round introduced the background of the work to be done, and one HR round was for salary negotiation.
