Pros
  1. Initial joining hike.
  2. Good work-life balance due to the work-from-home facility.
  3. Team members are helpful.
  4. Shift allowances for morning, afternoon, and night shifts.
  5. Extra conveyance for data cards and transport.
  6. Managers are quite helpful and understanding, except for a few.
  7. Good scope of learning, training, and certifications, especially the Oracle subscription for free on-demand trainings.
  8. IBM GBS is good for application developers, ERP functionals, and technical people.
  9. Good work culture.
Cons
  1. No/very minimal yearly hike even after a good appraisal.
  2. Very late promotions.
  3. Changing of a skill is tough.
  4. People get projects by personal connections, so there are no clear views of available positions.
  5. Very few long-term onsite opportunities or only short-term travel if lucky enough, as IBM mostly hires local candidates.
  6. Projects get scrapped due to high billing rates, which leads to uncertainty.
  7. IBM GBS is not good for DBAs. The quality infrastructure job is being done by IBM GTS.
  8. Senior management is very lazy while doing their duty. They don't have the right futuristic vision to take the organization forward.
Advice to Management

Please plan to up-skill the resources for the future.

Bring good projects on AWS, Azure, and OCI.

IBM has a very good resource base. Please use them and also promote and appreciate the hard-working employees at the right time.
