Pros

The company offers a lot of benefits to its employees. The salary structure works well if you can position yourself in the appropriate band.

Cons
  • Small companies absorbed suffer tremendously from merging with IBM and its strict regulations, policies, and required training/learning, while still expected to maintain and deliver at the velocity of a start-up. Managers are forced to lose their leadership positions because they don't have the required number of direct reports to warrant it in IBM's eyes.

  • Poor leadership is put in position to lead absorbed companies with little understanding of the products/teams being worked on. This leads to baseless layoffs of high-quality talent and destroys the morale of employees that remain.
