Pros

Talking about IBM CIC Groningen:

  • People are very open-minded, young, and dynamic.
  • Employees are very skilled and can develop new skills.
  • The direction is professional and honest, and communication is fair and transparent.
Cons

Talking about IBM CIC Groningen:

  • As a consultant, people often work alone on their project, or with colleagues from other locations (Amsterdam, for example). This reduces the opportunity for team building.
  • Since COVID, people have stayed working at home, so that office is quite empty and annoying.
  • IBM CIC signed a partnership with Apple for hardware (computers and phones). The IT environment is terrific since Apple products are not user-friendly, and in my opinion, not convenient for our project development. On top of that, most of our clients use the Windows environment system, which regularly ends with tool incompatibility between us and our client/partner.
  • There is not good IT support, so that we more rely on the experience of our peers to fix IT issues than calling IT, who answered 99% of the time that they do not support our request.
  • It is not possible to buy refurbished computers from the company in the Netherlands.

Despite these cons, it is a nice company to work for.
