Pros

Large pool of experts in many areas to learn from.

Even as an intern, you can get the opportunity to contribute to big projects.

Salary is great for an internship.

I feel like a part of the team, never "just the intern".

Cons

As with any large company, there are layers of bureaucracy and just bad habits that need navigating or pointing out and encouraging change. And yes, even interns can have an impact here.

Relatedly, because there are so many middle management positions or sometimes different branches, the messages from the top sometimes conflict, and vision can be muddied.

If you are unlucky, you may get stuck on a project where you may be doing repetitive stuff on legacy systems. I have heard other interns complain they did not feel they learned much or grow as a software developer.

Advice to Management

Find a way to make the company feel smaller. The move towards a more agile culture is great, and a journey I am proud to be a part of.

This requires more clear and concise direction from all management layers.
