Pros

Fair Salary

Strict rules about what people might and might not do, especially when compared to minor companies where bosses can behave as they feel like.

Cons

Far too rigid when it comes to working procedures and use of technology. "It's IBM's way or no way."

The hierarchy within the organization is no longer an advantage. There is poor or no communication between leaders and the ones that are actually doing the job. This is one of the reasons why a lot of projects are ending up nowhere.

Advice to Management

To upper management: Please choose/hire project leaders that are professionally competent, specialized in the relevant areas of their projects, but also personally involved in these projects.

To project leaders: Respect and support your software developers, consultants, business analysts—all the people that make things work.
