I was a software development summer intern at the Mass lab in Littleton, MA. The location is really nice during the summer, and the premises feel pretty new.
This probably varies for each intern, but the team I was in was really nice and willing to help me with my problems, and we all got along pretty well. Pay depends on the number of credits towards your degree that you've finished, but the rate is relatively good.
Even as an intern, you can feel the bureaucracy going on in the background. Also, this depends on the team, but be prepared to have a lot of meetings, most if not all of them including having to deal with the joy that is conference calls.
Honestly, I had a really good time at my internship, so I can't really think of any specific advice right now.
I sent my application through my school's career center. 1. One-on-one, on-site interview at my school. This interview was entirely behavioral-based. Basically, they just wanted to know what I was interested in. 2. I was contacted by a specific man
1. A very friendly conversation took place between me and two other technical persons. 2. Small technical questions were asked during the interview. 3. The interviewers were 20 minutes late to the interview.
I was put in touch with a hiring manager by a recruiter. I then went through two rounds of interviews: * One behavioral * One technical I heard back from them after a few weeks. Overall, it was a good experience.
