The advantage is flexible work timings, a flexible work culture, and a lot of independence in comparison to other similar companies. IBM Global has many good initiatives in itself, in which employees from India can also participate and take advantage, like Corporate Services Peace Corps and IT Architect, and choosing a good career path. But I am sure for that, if you manage to find a good, unbiased mentor, then it's good at IBM. Probably the work culture in locations other than Kolkata is much better and professional.
IBM Kolkata has a lot of "Dada" culture and is good for people who belong to this place and understand the local language. However, there is a large bias for people from outside in terms of opportunities and promotions, even though they are very good.
People talk in the local language and make others uncomfortable. There is a lot of politics, and people do not value real work; instead, flattery works.
So, if you are from outside, please do not work in IBM Kolkata. In case you do, then do not expect any growth. Also, a promotion in a project doesn't mean your salary has increased. That means they make you work more on the same salary.
Please try to retain talent by understanding their problems as well. Just do not expect everything from them. Otherwise, whenever the market is better, good talent never hesitates in leaving you. And do less of favoritism. As policy-wise, IBM is a good company, but what makes it worse is its managers.
3 rounds. The interview process and HR were good. However, personally, my experience with the tech interview was very bad. There was a lack of work ethics and very bad behavior. The way they talked made it feel like you were begging for the job, wi
A walk-in interview drive was going on. Kolkata was the location for this walk-in drive. The job location was for anywhere in India. The arrangement was very, very good.
I applied through my college. They conducted an aptitude test, and a considerable portion of the questions were number series. The difficulty level was quite high. Each section has its own cut-off. Some questions I remember: 1. 7, -35, -34, -3, 15
