Pros

Colleagues who are always willing to help and share their expertise. A global network.

Cons

There are some great managers, but generally speaking, most first-line managers do not know how to motivate and engage their team members. They just get in the way. There are too many layers of management, and second/third-line managers are bean-counters, Excel spreadsheet junkies who almost never see a client.

Advice to Management

Managers: Please think about what value you are adding and how you are helping individuals grow in your team. Learn to look after your team.

MDs/ VPs/ Directors/ GBS Partners: Please lower your egos. It's only a job, and you are not above everyone else. Treat your team with respect. You are successful because of the teams and individuals you manage, and not the other way around.
