Pros
  • Flexibility: It's possible to work from home when needed.
  • Flexible work hours, as long as you complete the weekly 40 hours.
  • Stability: It's rare to hear about layoffs.
  • It's relatively easy to move to different positions within IBM and even try a new career where you don't have experience, but your salary won't drop.
  • It's not easy, but it's possible to move from Country A to Country B and find a job in IBM Country B.
  • I had a very positive experience with the teams and managers I worked with.
  • Big database of internal training and e-learning.
Cons
  • Company doesn't invest back in employees, meaning it doesn't pay for external training, external certifications, or university degrees very easily.

  • In my personal experience, it is not easy to get a salary increase, even when being a top performer. Most people get it as a counter offer, and of course, you must be willing to leave the company in case they say no.

  • There's too much paperwork to get anything done.

Advice to Management

We should invest more seriously in top performers so as not to lose them to the market. This company is becoming full of average/low performers. How can this be good for the business?
