I worked in IBM India for 9 years in GBS. How you grow in IBM depends a lot on which project business unit you are in and how passionate you are to get what you want.
In IBM, you get a hell lot of study material, like books, 24x7 training portals, etc., where you can learn anything. WFH is very common (some projects/PMs restrict it).
It is a well-known fact that IBM is not a good paymaster. Moreover, starting from 2012 till 2015 (the period I have observed), more than 60% of employees did not receive salary hikes, and the rest 40% might have gotten less than 5%. The concept of people management is costing the company dearly. I have seen people working on a single project, doing monitoring activities with no good exposure, turn into delivery managers and decide others' fates. Revenue has been going down continuously for the past 4 years. The company is focusing more on Cloud, Analytics, Mobile, etc., with no investment in other areas (Service business).
Do not have the concept of people management; let HR do their job. Give competitive salaries and have onsite opportunities.
You will get a call from a consultant. It's good to go by consultant, since sometimes they can turn things around for you. Employee referrals are okay as well, but IBM is like a sea; it's hard to find the correct people even from inside. There will
The interview was easy. Basic Core Java was asked, along with a HashMap iteration question. In Spring Boot, the questions were also very basic. Nothing was asked about multi-threading. There were two questions based on Event-Driven Architecture (ED
The hiring process is good and easy.
