With over 30 years of experience here, about the only thing that still falls into the realm of PRO is decent flexibility for remote workers.
In the last decade, internal education classes have gone from best-of-breed to non-existent. Benefits have been cut across the board. The PBC ranking has gone from a reasonable performance-based system to just a curved ranking system to build the next layoff candidate list. There are very few raises and little opportunity for internal advancement. Finally, there's a petty cost management system that's reached the point where employees must not only supply their own office supplies but their own monitors and keyboards too. IBM provides one laptop and charger, which are now on a 4-year replacement cycle.
Bring back real education. Current think40 options are just advertising pitches.
Bring back at least some recognition of employees' worth and be more open in communicating with them. It's a week after the most recent RA cycle has begun, and our team has yet to hear if we are affected or not.
And FIX the PBC system. With the current ranking method in place, there is no incentive to assist team members with issues; it only helps them compete against you when positions are stacked at the end of the year.
HackerRank assessment with one coding question about profitable pairs and one SQL question to join tables and find a value. There is still no update from the team, and I'm guessing it's a ghost job.
I was given a test that was kind of like an IQ test. It comprised many long word problems with a lot of information and only two minutes to solve.
My interviewer was a manager, and he was super friendly. We had a great conversation that felt more like a coffee chat than an interview. The questions were mostly about my past experiences and projects, with some behavioral questions included.
