Pros: Nice people, cool trips, parties, exotic teambuildings.

Cons: not the case to blame

Pros: Massive investment in you. They see it as both necessary and mutually beneficial to invest a great deal in helping you improve and hone your skills. It takes a great deal of skill and intellect to be a part of this team, and no one has that (at least the skills part :D) out of college. IMC recognizes that and devotes a huge amount of resources to helping you get to the point where you can contribute. This conveys a sense that they both value you and what you can do for them, and makes the onboarding process fun and rewarding. In turn, these skills do not exist only within the IMC container. They are lasting skills that you are being paid and helped at every stage to learn, which is pretty incredible. Good work-life balance, great culture (happy hours on Fridays, massages, people hanging out together outside of the office, etc.) leads to a great feeling and team atmosphere. People want to do their part for IMC because they love working here. Smart people. Like, really smart. Great benefits. Quick turnaround on ideas. People respect and listen to each other, and bureaucratic hurdles are kept extremely low on new ideas. If you want to do something, you are encouraged to.

Cons: People work hard because they care about the company and like what they do. I guess if you end up working too hard because of that, you might not like it. But for the most part, that is up to you.

Pros: - Free lunches - Free massages - Free gym membership - Matching 401k Until the bonus numbers from IMC Chicago were published, I was quite obliviously happy with IMC. Honestly, my favorite part about working at IMC was leaving. I got a nice severance for my noncompete. The other good part about leaving IMC is that I found a job in tech that paid 50% more than what IMC paid me (salary + bonus). Developers skilled in Java, data, and algorithms can make much, much more elsewhere these days.

Cons: The culture is very top-down, command and control. You do what you're told. Your opinion simply doesn't matter. I don't recall a single time I was asked for my input or opinion. Even for things that weren't your mistake, it's normal to be verbally abused and berated in front of everyone. A phrase I guarantee that you'll never hear there is "servant leadership." The management simply does not care about developers. The bottom bucket traders make about 10x the bonuses of the top bucket developers. The two managers were taking about more than everyone else (150 people) combined. The bonus system is not based on merit. Don't even get me started on the sexual harassment culture. There's a reason there are so few females working at IMC.
