Process

The interview process involved a recruiter screen, a technical screen by a third party, and a full-day interview.

The recruiter seemed to know little about the job, though it wasn't entirely his fault as a formal job description was apparently lacking. Indeed appears to operate on a university-level rotational job scheme where candidates aren't immediately hired into a specific role or discipline. While this might appeal to many, my background is specifically in business intelligence and Big Data. Honestly, the factors that ultimately persuaded me to interview were the convenient location and the recruiter's enthusiasm.

The interview process itself was well-organized; I received information in a timely manner, and the entire experience was worry-free. Interestingly, after successfully navigating a very long day and surpassing a total of 13 other candidates, I didn't encounter anyone who could articulate anything truly insightful about the company. The recurring themes of "small teams" and "innovation" were consistent, but there was no indication of a cohesive strategy or plan guiding their efforts. Furthermore, not one person made an attempt to sell me on the position; some interviewers were almost adversarial in their approach.

Each interview segment was highly technical, which is understandable given the nature of the role. However, it felt like a repetitive exercise. It might be more effective to structure the day as an all-day class session or an exam. I did not get the impression that they genuinely cared about my personality or any aspect of me beyond what was presented in black and white.

Apparently, I performed well, as my recruiter informed me I had passed the interview process and that the next steps involved creating and getting an offer approved. However, that's essentially where the process concluded. It seems the company is currently experiencing internal issues that prevent them from issuing offers. My advice to others is to be wary of any tech company unable to extend an offer. It's akin to going on a date and then being told the other person can't afford to pay, and you'll have to cover their expenses.
