I was reached out to by a recruiter from Indeed, and the interview process started quickly. The recruiter was very helpful, providing guidance and focus for preparing for the phone interview, and discussing the onsite interview panel with me.
The phone interview was more data structure focused and was conducted using Codepad, where you can run and debug your code.
The onsite interview was scheduled for a whole day, starting at 10 am. I walked out of the door around 5:30 pm. The interview panel was standard: one primary interviewer and one shadow. There were whiteboard exercises from engineers and general questions from managers.
The negative experience stemmed from the fact that I could see some interviewers were not fully prepared. Some questions didn't fit the role I applied for. I had the feeling they didn't fully understand why this role was needed.
