Overall, the team at Instacart was very friendly. The system design portion was a killer; I've gone through the System Design Primer, but still feel ill-equipped to approach these types of interview questions.

There was little interest from many software teams to collaborate outside their team or improve things that do not directly translate to material for their promotion.
