Four phone calls and one face-to-face meeting. It was one of the worst interview processes I've ever had.
The interviewer was asking simple, idiotic questions in the final face-to-face interview. Given that he was a former postdoc, I would expect him to have more culture.
My CV clearly indicated that I didn't have much experience with C and Linux kernels. It took me 8 hours to travel to Gdansk, and the interview lasted 20 minutes. I was never refunded the money for the travel.
I suppose there is a reason to carry out three technical phone calls before the final face-to-face interview: so you don't invite people to face-to-face interviews who don't have the expertise you require, and waste their time and money.
Can you code Linux kernels in C?
