Pros: Benefits are top-notch: dental, vision, medical, and other insurances.
Decent pay.
Flexible hours.
Again, benefits: stock bonuses everywhere.
Nice work environment (cubes, desks, cafeterias).
Cons: Annual Focal Performance Review, straight up 'prove you're worthy of not getting laid off.'
Upper management sometimes doesn't know what it's trying to do, and the individual contributors suffer.
Business needs come before the individual. Again, the individual suffers, and your career might take a nosedive in a different direction than intended. This was a con for me.
Lots of employee turnover (at least in my organization).
Corporate politics gets in the way of progress and creates a toxic work environment.
Mobility within and outside of the company can get skewed by all the different roles and tasks they might have you do, turning you into a jack of all trades and a master of none.
It can get stressful when they have you perform multiple roles and wear multiple hats to get the job done.
Sometimes organizational managers within the company will hire people into an organization under a hidden veil, never fully disclosing what exactly or where exactly someone will end up in the organization. This can make for a disappointing and undesired 'trial by fire.'
Too many stressed-out and irritable people can make for a negative place to work.
Too many acronyms. We could start another language on all the acronyms we use.
