Process

There was a phone interview first, and the interviewer asked very basic questions. Some of them were:

  • How do you decrease the delay of a long wire?
  • Which combination of inputs gives the best delay for a 2-input NAND gate? Which combination gives the worst delay?
  • How do you do analog layouts? What are the different techniques?

There were also a few more questions on my thesis.

After one week, I was called for an on-site interview and was interviewed by six people from the team.

Three rounds were mostly from my resume, thesis, etc., and Perl/C. One round was on C++ basics. One round was on algorithms, including some layout algorithms. One round was on device physics and regular Intel interview questions.

Questions

Write a Perl program that takes a Spectre file as input and calculates the total capacitance at a specific node.

How does the drain current vary with temperature?

How do you lay out a capacitor?
