Process

I originally met an engineer from Intel while on a flight back home from a trip out west. After that flight, I decided to look on the Intel Jobs website to see if there were any positions available that would fit my education and background. I found a few and decided to apply for them.

During the online application process, you create your candidate profile and answer questions specific to the position you are applying for. I conducted this process back in September 2009, so I was a little surprised when I received a phone screening three months later, on December 21st. The phone screening was basically like a verbal offer; they stated the position they were offering, the salary range, and the available shifts.

The questions asked during the screening were:

  • What would be your shift preference?
  • When did you graduate college?
  • What was your GPA?

After that, they told me to set up a candidate profile, which I had already done, and apply for a requisition number given to me during the screening. I did that immediately after the screening was complete.

Two days later, I received an email from one of the Shift Managers asking me to come in for an On-site Interview on the 30th. The On-Site Interview was a group/panel interview conducted by the three shift supervisors during the evening and lasted about an hour. The atmosphere was relaxed but professional.

Be prepared for behavioral questions and be candid with your answers. I came out of the interview feeling very good and confident about how it went.

After the holidays, I sent out my thank-you letter via email, and that is when I received the good news (always do your follow-ups) and was told that I would be receiving an offer from staffing.
