Three-Part Process
Part 1: Initial Screening
I forwarded my resume to an email that was circulated in our department from Intel. (All other forms of forwarding did not work!!)
Part 2: Technical Interview
After about one week of forwarding the resume, I received an email from one of the technical staff asking for a technical interview. It was a one-hour interview with questions related to my PhD, instruments I used, their basic principles, troubleshooting experience, equipment ownership, and problem-solving.
Part 3: Onsite Interview
Three days after the technical interview, I was invited for an onsite interview, which happened one month later. This gave me plenty of time to prepare. It was a day-long interview, starting with a 45-minute presentation. This was followed by 30-45 minute one-on-one interviews with different members of the technical team. It was a pleasant experience; I really enjoyed talking to them as it felt more like a conversation. The questions were similar to those in the technical interview. Make sure you know everything that you have put on your resume.
During lunch, three members of the technical team escorted me and gave me a broad overview of lifestyle, benefits, vacations, leaves, and work stress. At the end of the day, the final interview was with the hiring manager, who basically gave a brief overview of the different components of the TD department and how it fits into the broader picture of Intel.
At the end, the manager hinted that if they did not select me, I would know within a week. Otherwise, I would hear back from HR in 2-4 weeks.
In the fourth week, I received an offer from them.
