Pros

As a product development engineer, there are multiple departments where you can work and learn new skills.

Cons

As a product development engineer, if you start with a PhD, career growth is slow and you can get stuck at the same level.

Advice to Management

There is a lot of politics in the first-level management, a lot of hierarchy.

Second-level managers don't know what the employees are doing day to day; they are fed by the first-level managers, who are often biased.

If you are senior-level, first-level managers can think of you as a threat.
