Pros

It wasn't very difficult to keep an eight-to-five schedule. Lots of times I would come in when I wanted and leave when I wanted. People didn't seem to care when you worked, as long as you were keeping up with the team and reporting on your projects regularly. Really, it wasn't too difficult of a job.

There were also a number of good people to work with. I felt like, as an engineer, you get decent compensation for great work-life balance and a chance to be part of a well-known company. Everyone knows who Intel is. It looks pretty good on your resume.

Cons

Many times the work was extremely technical to the point of being very boring. I love to work on technical projects, but it is really easy to lose a sense of the bigger picture while you're sifting through the weeds of a project.

I also felt like if I ended up staying at Intel, there wouldn't be much opportunity for advancement. I would probably have left to pursue a graduate degree (MBA, etc.). Intel doesn't really offer any sort of decent college reimbursement program (at least at a school that I thought was worthwhile attending).

Some of the people were kind of weird as well.

Advice to Management

Keep cutting out all of the layers of management.
