Pros

Good benefits. Some groups provide a very good work environment and the opportunity to work with talented people. Good culture and values.

Cons

There is a lot of bureaucracy, and it seems like there is a lot of variation in compensation. Every manager can give you multiple bureaucratic excuses for why a promotion cannot be given or how many years one should work at a certain grade level before getting promoted. Some groups have great work-life balance, while some other groups have none.
