No growth opportunities & trapped on nightshift forever

Pros

The benefits package is very good, with the exception of healthcare costs (roughly 2x that of other semiconductor manufacturers for the exact same coverages).

Intel actively promotes a clean and safe working environment and does a good policing.

Plenty of growth opportunities for dayshift workers.

Cons

There is no 24-hour on-site Implant engineering coverage for the New Mexico nightshift (you have to call a sleeping engineer at home for guidance), which is very inefficient. Some other areas do have 24/7 coverage, however.

There are absolutely no growth opportunities for Implant nightshift workers unless you are "in" with the senior management, at which point they will do anything they can to accommodate your needs (a typical "good ol' boy network).

They will constantly remain understaffed so that they can refuse your request for an internal transfer.

They will hire people off the street for dayshift while constantly denying your request to transfer from nights to days by telling you that they're understaffed on nights and you're too experienced to be allowed to go.

Advice to Management

Please stop constantly closing the door in your technicians' faces. There are other companies all too happy to recruit a well-trained Intel employee.
