Pros

The pay is good, the work is easy. There's lots of money to throw at issues to make them go away. It can involve a lot of travel. They don't keep track of hours.

Cons

There is no concept of project management outside the fab. There is no consistency across multiple organizations with respect to standard engineering practices. Any standards that they do have are optional.

Advice to Management

Management should adopt a corporate standard for project management, such as PMI, and require that all PMs use the standard. The same thing should apply for engineering standards. I would recommend using ASME.
