Pros

High technology, good reputation, good policies and compensation, freedom to do advanced research, lots of very smart and capable people.

Cons

There have been great situations and terrible situations.

It may be a function of shrinking the US employee base to move offshore, but in the past few years, there seems to have been a lot of irrationality and turf defense, making it a tense place to work for many.

Advice to Management

Reconsider the offshore/onshore balance. Do a better job of breaking up the cliques that make the company dysfunctional, rewarding the mediocre and punishing the innovative. Do more than lip service about innovation; create the structures that will allow a better flow of ideas across functional groups. Recognize that innovation comes from the network, not the individual.
