Pros

Excellent work-life balance. Various kinds of employee benefits, and you can definitely find at least one you would like to take advantage of. Managers really care about the individual and the individual's career development, beyond just how they fit within Intel.

This leads to greater autonomy and varied and interesting projects as you show you're capable of taking on more and provide insight on your career-focused goals.

Cons

In some groups, software-oriented roles are focused on automation tasks to assist the development of hardware. This is good if you like working with various types of datasets and designing analysis tools, but it likely isn't software engineering if you're looking for that kind of role.

Advice to Management

Build better software infrastructure. Bring in software developers to solve problems, rather than engineers who engineer functional but un-optimized solutions to largely software problems.
