Lots of opportunities - a large global company covering many businesses.
Market leader and direction setter for the industry.
Relatively easy to move around internally.
Despite the size of the company, they are reasonably open with communication to the employees.
Competitive salary and benefits.
Large and bureaucratic. Some are frustrated by the ranking and rating process, but I found it to be a reasonably fair system. Depending on the organization, technical ability is sometimes the reason for promotion to management, and this can breed some poor people managers who continue to succeed because of their technical skills.
Find a way to succeed outside of microprocessors.
I had a 1-hour phone interview for pre-silicon verification. The interviewer was nice and very experienced, with a background more in RTL coding. He asked questions entirely on computer architecture subjects, such as: * Pipelining and its hazards
I was contacted by an internal recruiter and invited to apply online. After I submitted my application and followed up with the recruiter, she set up a phone interview with the hiring manager. The phone interview went well, and I was invited on-sit
The interview lasted all day. The questions were pretty simple and standard, covering programming and some computer architecture. I recommend staying cool and answering to the best of your ability. I received an offer the following week and accepted
