Decent salary if you negotiate well and compare with local employers (at least in Bellevue). Good dental plan. Lots of resources for learning. Company shuttle if you live in serviced areas. Discount on PC parts. Free beverages & snacks.
Politics, turf battles, lowball offers at hiring time, lots of late-night meetings. The employee review system is opaque and always changing. Lots of reorganizations (had 7 managers in 1.5 years). Employee reviews are difficult with so many managers. Constant fear of layoffs coming from above, small salary increases, no Christmas party, few team events, and no fitness benefits on smaller sites.
Cut down on the politics and turf battles and create positive environments where enthusiasm, exploration, and curiosity are fostered. The quality of one's work should determine their review, instead of encouraging a political environment where alliances, who you know, and who you are friends with determine how well your review goes.
