You have to take the path which the business needs.
There's a lot of politics.
There's no job security. All the years/days they say you are a great performer, and then they may ask you to leave if the company is not doing well, by considering you as a low performer.
Have clarity on why you are choosing an employee to leave. An employee's career is more important; managers have to keep that in mind.
