Pros

Great opportunities if you're in the right group and have a good manager.

Top-notch technologies, world-wide scope.

Cons

It's hard to convince senior management. Risk-taking is usually used without accepting or even gathering 360-degree feedback from peer groups outside the business unit.

Advice to Management

Spend more on quality improvement and project management in accordance with best practices (CMM/CMMI). Engage in more sync-up with peer groups outside business units. Avoid politics in making decisions and avoid duplicate work and groups. Become more customer-centered rather than inner-structure centered. Introduce global CRM and ERP systems, moving away from Excel planning.
