Pros

It is a great place to be if you want to do complex designs, utilize leading-edge technology, explore a diversified work environment, have a stake in the company, and have the opportunity to travel to or work in different places around the world.

Cons

It is not a great place to work if you abhor decision by committee or being forced to climb the corporate ladder. After the big layoff last year, the work environment has drifted negative, with folks wondering when the other foot will fall. The days of being given a short breather to find a new home within the company when your position is eliminated are gone.

Advice to Management

I worked there during the entire tenure of Andy Grove as CEO, as did BK.

Andy was as cutthroat as anyone in the valley about seeing his company succeed, but he managed the company so that the environment was not toxic and people wanted to see it succeed.

The times may have changed, but the myopic attention only to the bottom line was not at the Intel I remember.
