After a short call with HR, we scheduled a 75-minute Zoom meeting for a coding test.
The interviewer was very nice, but when I presented my solution for a rate limiter using the Token Bucket algorithm, it seemed like he was not familiar with this approach and was not ready to hear about it. I tried to explain multiple times what I was doing, and after I implemented the solution, I was asked to implement the regular solution.
This was a bit annoying because there was not much time left, and my original solution was correct. Anyway, I implemented the basic solution, but I had some conversion issues (from seconds to long). Since I didn't have access to the internet and not enough time, I didn't resolve this. So, when I ran the solution, the answer was incorrect.
After that, I was asked about my AI experience at work (they knew I didn't have any).
After a few days, I received a rejection email.
First of all, I think it would be better to have two interviewers to get a more objective opinion. Second, I was disappointed that the interviewer didn't accept my original solution, despite the fact that it was correct.
Implement rate limiter:
public boolean rateLimit(String key, int intervalInSecs, int maxLimit)
