Process

We first attended a presentation about the company. They focused heavily on innovation and their work. The presenters seemed both approachable and professional. The team comprised a mix of young professionals and highly experienced employees.

This was followed by a written elimination round. It consisted of four coding questions to be completed in one hour. We had to write the complete code with proper syntax on paper. Test cases and complexity analysis were also required.

  1. Given two binary numbers represented as linked lists, add them and return the result as a linked list.
  2. Sort a stack in ascending order using only another stack.
  3. Given an array of integers, output an array where the value at index i is the product of all other numbers except the one at position i in the original array.
  4. Determine if a number can be generated through a specific process: starting with 1, either multiply by 3 any number of times or add 5 any number of times. Output the path or indicate if it's not possible. Example: 13 = 1 * 3 + 5 + 5, 15: Not possible.

Twelve students were shortlisted for interviews.

The next day, we participated in a "Design for Delight" session. This was not an elimination round, but an opportunity to experience problem-solving and solution design. Interviewers took notes on our participation.

Technical Interview: We discussed my paper from the written round. I was asked to find a bug in the code I wrote for question 1. I was quite pleased when I identified it correctly.

We discussed the logic of the stack sorting question.

I was asked to choose a data structure, and I selected a linked list. Since I knew the iterative approach, I was asked to reverse the linked list recursively.

I was given a solution for problem 4 and asked to identify logical errors and debug it.

We discussed the projects and internships listed on my resume.

There was a discussion about the differences between a Quality Engineering (QE) role and a Development (Dev) role.

HR Interview: This involved a basic discussion about the company's work.

We discussed how one might test a Google webpage, covering the various aspects involved in a relaxed manner.

There was a resume-based discussion, including courses and electives.

The interview process was very relaxed and unique. The primary aim was to assess our thought process and whether we approached problems in the right direction.

Questions

Check if a number can be generated from the following process: take 1, multiply by 3 any number of times, or add 5 any number of times. Output the path or state that it's not possible.

For example: 13 = 1 * 3 + 5 + 5 15: Not possible
