Software Engineer II • Former Employee
Pros: Work-Life Balance
Benefits
Great People
Cons: Starting stage: Interns get higher positions just after the internship. Graduates don't get promoted even after giving strong performance for 1-2 years.
Great transparency: Managers directly tell you to please higher engineers/other managers to get a promotion, even if you don't work with them.
No learning.
Only show-off work, not real work (PowerPoints).
Re-orgs happen every 6 months, then reshuffles happen frequently within a team. Your manager changes at every re-org/reshuffle. Every time, try to understand the styles of different managers, different rules for promotion, and different types of pleasing based on managers.
You don't get correct reasons from management behind not getting promoted.
You need to ask for promotion even after giving consistent strong performances, then they will plan. That also depends on the manager's style.
Talk loud, do nothing.
