Got a call from HR regarding the opening. Below were my interview rounds:
After passing all the rounds, I was rejected. The reason was the last round's discussion on salary.
He asked me about my expected salary, and I told him.
Next, he asked me the reason for that much hike, which I explained clearly, citing family health issues and the difference in the cost of living between Pune and Mumbai, as I am staying with my mom and dad.
However, the outcome was that he started saying my motivation is money and it may harm other team members if I am given that much hike.
I tried to explain that if my motivation were money, I could have changed companies in the last two years (having 6+ years of experience). Instead, I haven't, and now I am looking for a job because of sudden problems, and I am the only person earning.
In the end, the discussion was over but with the same words he said earlier.
I tried to reach HR numerous times by mail and call, but no one replied. Finally, I got her cell number from somewhere, and after talking to her, even she said the same words.
I am happy that I am not a part of that team where a manager is not able to understand the person and his problems.
