Pros

They're stable at the moment. Within the banking industry, they are still holding steady while others are crashing and burning. Of course, a lot of the stability is dependent upon which LOB (Line of Business) you work in. The LOB I work in provides technology support to all other LOBs; however, we're in a horrible state when it comes to stability and compensation.

Cons

At least in our LOB and group, there's poor recognition of work done, horrible pay packages, and no incentive for professional growth.

The manager above my supervisor, when asked about incentives and rankings and such, said, "Well, I don't know about you, but just having a job right now is compensation enough."

Although it may be true, it's not something that will help morale and performance.

Advice to Management

Drop the military mentality where it exists. People are not plug and play and need more than "that's your job, soldier."
