• Depending on the team, it can be a good tech stack. • People are generally enjoyable to work with. • Pay is okay, not the best, but not bad either. • Decent work/life balance.
Name: The above reasons are why JPMC is 2 stars instead of 1.
SEP is a joke. Not a bad first job for new grads if it's your best offer. But it's a useless program to keep new grads docile and complacent as Analysts for 2.5 years. Nothing more.
A lot of the promotions, job titles, and hiring process are jokes and meaningless. It's banking titles applied to software work. Straight up, it doesn't work.
COVID. How they handled COVID has been horrendous. Lack of leadership and follow-through throughout the entire pandemic. From the top down, they told us nothing for over a year. We were told literally 10 different return-to-office plans within one quarter. The lack of leadership and transparency has been a huge turn-off, starting at the top. Jamie Dimon is extremely out of touch, and it shows. If you want a flexible work schedule, this company is not for you. One week they'll say one thing. The next week it'll be a complete reversal. Very poor leadership and a lack of employee empathy during the entire pandemic.
Laptops. They don't even give SWEs laptops. We use Citrix VMs for 40 hours per week. They are extremely cheap at the expense of your frustration.
Stupid amount of red tape. Need Postman? Raise a request. Need repo access? Raise a request. Get used to raising requests for some of the most basic software functions. And if you enjoy anything Linux-based, well, you're SOL.
PADS. You literally need to pre-clear all stock transactions, and if they arbitrarily block you from purchasing an asset unrelated to you, you're SOL.
This company is all about quotas and image. As long as the MDs/EDs can say we had X amount of workers do this, it's a W in their book. Absolutely zero substance and all talk.
Stop putting banking first and tech second. Tech is quickly becoming the backbone of this company. Managers at the top need to realize this, or they will have a hard time retaining and attracting talent. It just isn't going to fly with a lot of the younger SWEs, and your retention rate will continue to be abysmal. JPMC is a literal stop-gap company for most of the younger SWEs. Capital One is a good example of a bank prioritizing tech.
But if you're fine with mediocrity, JPMorgan Chase is your new dream job.
Fair. Ask some questions about RESTful APIs. Ask your behavioral questions and how to process when you have conflicts with your manager. It is a relatively straightforward technical interview.
is hard as tech company interviews, but the annoying part is it’s not standardized like LeetCode is. At least with tech companies, you expect a general format, so studying for one means you study for multiple. JP, on the other hand, will depend on th
I had an interview with the team I'd work with. I had to show knowledge about my engineering stack and show people I would work with that I could be useful.
