Pros
  • Nice WLB
  • Hybrid
  • Tech stack is somewhat up-to-date. They use React and Spring Boot mostly. Some teams use Angular and Python as well.
  • "Somewhat up-to-date" means they use React, but not the most recent React. I had to use class component React. That was just for one team I worked with, so maybe it's more recent for other teams.
Cons
  • YouTube is blocked.
  • Many websites are blocked. This can make googling for solutions harder.
  • Restrictive internet usage.
  • It can be slow getting anything done because sometimes you need permissions from other people.
  • Pay is not competitive. Capital One down the street is paying their new grad devs $25k more.
  • Upper management is going to take attendance to make sure enough people are coming into the office. This job can be done even better from home since they block so many resources, so it really doesn't make sense to me.
Advice to Management
  • Increase pay
  • Increase WFH flexibility
  • Unblock YouTube
