Pros

Work/life balance can be decent, depending on the team or management you are a part of.

Cons

My group was infested by micromanagers, making it very difficult to do the right thing and to do it well.

Vacation is technically accrued. The tracking system does not show this (it shows total vacation for the year) and I was not told this when I hired on. Management also talks as if all vacation is available January 1st. This all works out until you quit. You actually accrue 1/12 of your total vacation days on the last day of the month. So, if you take more vacation days than you've "accrued" in the month you resign, it is a salary advance and will be deducted from your final pay. Stop telling people you get 20 vacation days and instead tell them you accrue 1.66 days on the last day of the month.
