I like the fact that I can attend classes and learn. It depends on the position, however, if there is room to learn while working with DE on resolving bugs.
Resident Engineer is the same as being a contractor. You never know if the customer would extend the contract at the end of the year.
Try not to overreact every time you hear some small complaint from the customer. Because you do not want to put pressure on the engineer, and he thinks that his position can be eliminated any time.
