After reading so many negative reviews about the recruitment process and actually seeing King reply to some of them, I thought that maybe they would drastically try to improve this year's graduate recruitment process. I was wrong; applying was a waste of time and looked even worse than in the past.
After applying online, I received an automatic email saying they were "really impressed" by my application and wanted me to go through a recorded video interview process. The email stated that I could download an Android app to do the interview. Therefore, I downloaded the app, configured it, and went through the tutorial. Just when I was about to start the questions, the app blocked, saying the interview given by King did not support the mobile format. Great; I had to start all over again on my computer.
The questions were randomly chosen, and some of them didn't even seem related to the role I was applying for (either assuming I had several years of working experience or being more linked to a salesman role). As I wasn't told whether the video recordings would be viewed in order, or even by the same person, I just ended up repeating myself in quite a few of them.
There were also two online coding tests, with about 65 minutes to do both. In the role description, it clearly stated that any of the four listed languages were suitable for the role. But, big surprise, half of the languages had disappeared in the tests, and the code could only be run and tested in two languages I knew nothing about. Therefore, I spent almost all the time Googling the language syntax and not actually paying attention to code efficiency or basic good programming practices.
The process lasted almost two months, during which I did not even speak in person, on the phone, or by mail to a single King employee and only received automatic emails. Extremely unprofessional and disorganized company.
