I had my first phone interview with them. They seemed like nice people.
However, one of the interviewers was hired at LinkedIn only a month before my interview, and the other interviewer was hired around six months before. I checked their backgrounds, and they were almost new graduates with Bachelor's degrees! I have a Master's degree and a couple of years of work experience.
They asked me about my project. When I started talking about the Weka algorithm and how I used it in my project, they kept asking, "What is WEKA?!!" I was surprised they didn't even know about it.
Then they asked two questions.
The first was too simple, but they tried to exaggerate its complexity. I solved it with two different approaches.
The second question was complicated, but my internet connection dropped at the beginning, and I couldn't resolve the issue. I couldn't code it, but I provided the solution verbally and explained that I hadn't expected internet connection issues.
The interviewer said my verbal solution was correct. I was so angry at Comcast at that time. We switched to a faster service, and it apparently became worse.
About two weeks later, I received an email from the recruiter stating I wasn't the best match. Seriously, they didn't even give me a second chance, even though they knew it wasn't my fault.
Overall, being judged by someone who was hired at LinkedIn right after college a month ago, I didn't expect much more than this.
I don't remember exactly what the question was, but the interviewer was looking for a solution where, instead of using any extra data structure, you would utilize the input itself (an array) and modify it directly to save space.
