A hierarchical organization coupled with a promotion-driven culture is creating a very toxic work environment where only bullies thrive. It's very hard to get ahead, as most promotions are based on favoritism and fluff. Weak leaders are easily fooled by bullies who are ready to do anything to get ahead.
There is no teamwork. Workers are in harsh competition with each other, and collaboration is a joke. HR has no power and it just sides with managers.
