Pros

Company really cares about its employees' health and development.

Perks are very good:

  • One in-day per month for personal growth
  • $2000/yr PerkUp
  • $1000/yr for home office
  • 401k match
  • Great medical benefits, etc.

On-campus food is hands down the best in the valley.

Opportunities for learning are good with LinkedIn Learning, Safari Books, and internal training classes.

Peers are smart, hardworking, and very friendly.

Cons
  • Slow moving
  • Some unique LI perks and culture are disappearing due to MSFT
  • Promo process is busted
  • Craftsmanship is being gamed by some (review comment metrics, design doc commenting, etc)
  • To get things done in a reasonable timeframe, you need to know 'the person' to contact. Otherwise, it goes into JIRA and takes forever until the person who knows what to do picks up the ticket, and even then you need to pester them to solve it.
  • Internal tooling documentation is a mixed bag and not rewarded for maintaining, although I hear this is changing somewhat.
  • Many of the IT functions have moved to India, so it takes a long time to get issues resolved due to the time zone difference.
Advice to Management

Fix broken and gamed promo process.

Better refreshes to retain talent.

Jeff is definitely missed for inspiration.
