Software Engineer Interview Experience

Process

I had an initial 30-minute talk with a recruiter where we discussed interests, logistics, and other topics. I was then asked to do a technical phone interview.

For the first 10 minutes, we talked about my work experience. Then, I was asked to complete a technical exercise on a collaborative coding platform.

Later, I was emailed to schedule a 4-5 hour interview for the following week. I met with several people, including the director, hiring manager, and team members. Everyone was very friendly and nice.

They asked me some technical questions, none of which were overly difficult. However, I lacked some experience with the material, which caused me to answer slowly.

They provided an offer summary and requested verbal confirmation before issuing a formal offer. This was a conditional offer, contingent upon a background check, drug test, and references.

There was also some miscommunication between the recruiter and me, which led to some confusion on my part.
