Senior Software Engineer Interview Experience - San Francisco, California

Process

I was contacted by a recruiter and scheduled for a phone screen. After a call with the hiring manager and a technical phone screen, I didn't hear back for a few weeks. The recruiter then contacted me again, stating that the phone screen went well and the team wanted to bring me in for an onsite interview. I was then handed over to another recruiter who, surprisingly, scheduled another phone screen.

The second phone screen consisted of jumping straight into coding. It covered three coding questions and left no time for any questions about the job, team, or Lyft in general. I never heard back from the recruiter again.

Sending a standard template email, rather than ghosting candidates, is the least that one could expect from any organization. The way an organization treats candidates who interview with them, even unsuccessfully, states a lot about their internal culture and how the organization is run.
