Applications Support Engineer Interview Experience

Process

I was recently contacted by the company after dropping my resume at the career fair at our university. They asked me several questions about my personality and work attitude, such as:

  • Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
  • How do you cope with conflict in the workspace?

Questions

The technical interview would be a combination of several steps. I chose computer science as the major part, and the questions will consist of four parts:

  • Basic math: calculus, differential equations, and linear algebra.
  • Programming concepts: syntax and how languages work.
  • One programming language: C (recommended), C++, or Java. If C++ is selected, you must understand syntax, structure, compilation, and OOP concepts.
  • MATLAB: basic MATLAB syntax, data, and programming concepts.
  • Controls: classical control, modern control, and non-linear systems.
